The Top 10 (And Counting) Education Systems In The World

Pearson recently released their global report on education (which we also looked at last year). This report takes a look at major factors in education, such as expenditure per student, GDP, graduation rates, etc. South Korea topped the rankings again this year, but Finland – well known for its excellence in education – fell to 5th place.

Take a gander at the graphic below (from the report summary) to see where each country falls in the rankings. Some of the key findings of the report are as follows:

• East Asian nations continue to outperform others. South Korea tops the rankings, followed by Japan (2nd), Singapore (3rd) and Hong Kong (4th). All these countries’ education systems prize effort above inherited ‘smartness’, have clear learning outcomes and goalposts, and have a strong culture of accountability and engagement among a broad community of stakeholders.
• Scandinavian countries, traditionally strong performers, are showing signs of losing their edge. Finland, the 2012 Index leader, has fallen to 5th place; and Sweden is down from 21st to 24th.
• Notable improvements include Israel (up 12 places to 17th), Russia (up 7 places to 13th) and Poland (up four places to 10th).
• Developing countries populate the lower half of the Index, with Indonesia again ranking last of the 40 nations covered, preceded by Mexico (39th) and Brazil (38th).

Training tens of thousands of teachers
Through their involvement with the World’s Children’s Prize, tens of thousands of teachers and representatives of organisations receive training on the rights of the child and democracy, and on methods for dealing with these subjects.

Learning about Children’s Rights
Every year the children decide, through a Global Vote, who should receive the World’s Children’s Prize for the Rights of the Child. 7.1 million children voted in the last Global Vote. It marks the climax of a longer programme of study. Before the prize is awarded, several million children have learned about the rights of the child and democracy, gained new faith in the future, and had a chance to make their voices heard on the rights of the child.

Teacher’s Guide

Tens of thousands of teachers in schools around the globe have embraced the World's Children's Prize as a way to teach their pupils about the rights of the child, democracy and the environment.

The 2014 WCP Program will run from February 5 until 22 October. This year's World's Children's Press Conferences will be held on 28 October.

Millions of participants
There are so far nearly 60,000 Global Friend schools with 29,3 million students in 110 countries. In those schools, there are probably around half a million teachers. You are one of around 50,000 teachers who get involved every year, making it possible for your students to take part in the World’s Children’s Prize. 

• The primary goal is to contribute to a more humane world, where the rights of the child are respected by all, and where each new generation grows into ’global citizens’. Students at all schools that have registered as Global Friend schools are welcome to participate.

Finland Education System Overview
All Teachers of schools and colleges have at least master level education degrees. The selection of teachers are made from the top ten percent of graduates, then they are trained for best level of teaching. School level: at least 7 years child can take admission. Every type of student even he/she has much, little or no abilities are taught in same classroom. At 16 years, students can perform science experiments At elementary schools 75 minutes of break/recess time is provided Schools are funded by the state Teachers have same protocol value like Engineers and doctors. Which Country has Best Education System in the World

- As we know Education sector is the most important sector in every nation’s prosperity without vast knowledge, research and a proper high level education system there is no way to get progress and a nation without knowledge and technology  can’t sustain here in this world. So The governments always prefers to spend a large and heavy amount of money on this sector. There are several hurdles in the progress of education systems in third world countries and for this reason they are still backward . from all main aspects for great literacy rate, one of the important factor  is the respect and encouragement of teachers.
